HIV+ Women and Personal Power Update

On World AIDS Day, Legacy Counseling Center hosted an educational event called HIV+ Women and Personal Power. Yesterday, Melissa received this letter from a woman who attended the event. Her name has been removed to respect her privacy.

Melissa,

This is (name deleted) and I had the honor of meeting you in person on Monday evening at the event that Legacy had put on.  I just wanted to write you personally to express how powerful that meeting was. But to make this email short and to the point I am writing to say the presentation you gave was just life changing! I admire powerful and courageous women who refuse to allow things to hold them down in life.  I found out I was diagnosed with HIV on September 23, 2009 even though it was a recent diagnosis I came to the conclusion that I have HIV and it will always be apart of me but it does not define who I am and based on your presentation it coincided with what I chose to believe all along…… it spoke directly to my heart.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and keep on doing what you’re doing! You are a powerful women, a trailblazer and an inspiration to women from all walks of life!

Truly,
