My First Post!

Welcome to the first edition of Melissa’s Corner. If you had told me 18 years ago when I started as Legacy’s second therapy intern that I would be here writing thousands of Legacy supporters about all of the exciting things going on at Legacy, I doubt I would have believed you.

As Legacy Counseling Center celebrates our 20 year anniversary of serving HIV positive people, I reflect back to the “old days” when we had no office space and had to do some of our sessions in a car. Our fundraising plan was weekly garage sales and our client numbers were considered large when we hit 20 clients!

Many years have passed and thousands of North Texans have been helped by our services. What started as a small group of people living with AIDS and reaching out to each other for help and guidance, has now evolved into the largest HIV/AIDS counseling center in the South.

Everyday, I am privileged to work with a wonderful staff who care for people who truly need our help. Our clients and patients are usually at critical key moments in their life. It is an honor to be able to support them during such an important time. So, I personally invite you to explore our new website. Look around. Maybe you can find a way to help us in our work!
